OOTD - Review 3.

"eclectic fun
That voice is very Ben Fold-ish, which, in my book is a great thing. The drums have a very low-fi sound, which is also fun. The lyrics seem kind of Morrissey-ish, and that's not bad either.

Overall, the song has a fun, party feel to it. It's a very eclectic mix of a lot of genres. Very original.

Nice job, mate."

I always find the Ben Folds comparison odd. Didn't he call himself an angry dwarf? I'm more like an apathetic tall guy. To me his Carolina accent is evident in his singing and it sometimes sounds kiwi/australian, so I put it down to that.

Funny how some people hear compression on drums and they suddenly think it's 'low-fi'.

Now, the Morrissey thing. Interesting. I seem to recall his lyrics being a bit depressing. Still, the guy in OOTD doesn't sound like the happiest dude around either. But that apparently doesn't stop it from having a 'party feel'. Phew.

The guy who wrote this review was from an LA band called 'Faded Party Figures'. They sound really great. Very original in a way that OOTD is not.
